Back when I was teaching College English courses, one of the ways I’d get students engaged in a writing assignment was to pose a question and have them answer it, simple Q&A essays which rarely caught me off guard. One day I posed the question, “If a dog and a child were each drowning in the same body of water at the same time, and you could only save one, which would you rescue?”
A staggering number of students answered they would save the dog. I was taken aback, something in our society had shifted. I thought perhaps it was just that small, random sampling of students, but over the next few years I continued to pose the same question and “saving the dog” became an increasingly standard answer. The societal shift had continued and grown more alarming. We see that shift in clear focus with apex predator worship.
Last week it was revealed that animal rights activists are pushing the State of Montana to require bear spray be carried by hunters and trappers. A similar petition was filed with the Wyoming Game & Fish Department in 2019. The group filing the Montana petition is small, but rest assured, they are determined and petitions like this won’t go away anytime soon. Crazy? Yes. Determined? 100%
I don’t know what the outcome of the Montana bear spray petition will be. I’m betting it won’t come to fruition but folks thought the same thing of Socialism in the United States and look where we are today.
The latest predator worship lunacy has come in the form of a bounty on legal wolf hunters who kill a member of the famous Mollie’s wolf pack, which has moved out of Yellowstone National Park and into a Wyoming wolf hunt area, thus making themselves fair game for hunters with a wolf tag when season opens.
Wolf “advocacy” activists are offering a “bounty” of $10,000 for the name and personal information of anyone who legally kills a member of the Mollie’s. This move is meant to intimidate legal wolf hunters. Hunters who legally tag a Mollie’s wolf will no doubt be harassed, threatened, and possibly assaulted by wolf worshipers worldwide.
That’s the sad reality of today’s world. People who are detached from the realities of the natural world personificate predators, and place them on a pedestal above scientific management and worst of all, above the lives of human beings.
From mandatory bear spray to human bounties placed on legal wolf hunters, it’s all lunacy which I don’t understand today any better than I did when I assigned those essays years ago.
I have my own beliefs on all of this but I want to know. . . What’s your take?

Wyoming (the FEDS) had a mandatory bear spray rule when hunting elk in Grand Teton Park years ago. I don’t know if that’s the case anymore, but it was in the 90’s when I hunted there.
Tip of the iceberg for things to come ! The issue is the “lack of the inverse” meaning sane, rational, intelligent, ethical, moral persons do not reciprocate and subsequently expose these shitbags by name and organization and essentially do the same to publicly go after them. At some point the tables will turn but not until we All experience aspects personally!
We’re in a cycle of events of the nature of the sinful man. Where we leave off from the natural worship of God and replace him with a form of worshiping of his creation. Man’s greatest need is spiritual and man’s greatest spiritual need is Jesus Christ. Mankind will by nature worship something, if not God then the most natural thing to worship is a part of God’s creation. Watch out, because when we place a greater importance on anything else other than God first, then our God who is a jealous god will remove that substitute out of our lives. It’s amazing how far out on a limb we as people can get, out of our rightful position with our God and even with our surroundings, especially when it comes to beautiful predators.
Personally I think sportsmen could easily put bounties on the wolves and grizzlies that are decimating our game animals that are actually ment to be tableware because it appears that our western states game departments don’t have enough integrity to protect the states natural game animals. The departments are mostly supported by the sportsman’s dollar to begin with.
Simmer down boys. The bear spray issue aside, what we’re talking about regarding the Mollies, is the best way to maintain one small but important aspect of the Wild America that we all love alongside the hunting heritage which we also love. The issue is that we are dealing with a wolf pack that has lost its fear of humans and that has moved outside the protected environment they have known. We want to hunt. We also want healthy numbers of historical, grand animals. Think long game. Think preservation. More wolves, good. More opportunities as we look forward, good. Protecting the Mollies for our posterity, good. Not much more to consider than that.
LOL.
Lost their fear of humans and moved into an area where they can be killed. I like the sound of that.
Praise the Lord and pass the ammo.
Ass clown ! Put a $10 K hit out on social media to kill ur ex wife see what happens ! Point is credible published threats are a felony and anything short of maximum punishment to those advocating is disregarding a punishable law ! The inverse cannot be justified except in terms of self defense- a distinction! I have zero concerns for wolf hunting after living in AK for a decade I’ve shot/ trapped my share – nearly 4 dozen, seriously challenging smart animal. What people don’t see or understand is the true “total” impacts of not tightly controlling them ! Then again – their lower 48 demise had far less to do with hunting and trapping – look it up ! Canine disease is the ultimate savior for management and neither side controls that when that results, just like plague in a Prarie dog town – gone fast ! The cycle
Everyone needs to remember what the difference between preservation and conservation is, hunting is conservation so we can save and preserve our elk and deer herds, do you want to save our deer and elk or do you want to save the wolf and let the deer and elk drown,
