Trump Opens Public Land For Hunting

In a recent executive order named, “Reinvigorating America’s Hunting Heritage”, president Trump has declared intent to expand public access and hunting opportunities on previously closed or difficult to access and heavily restricted Federal ground. The order strives to create access easements and land exchanges for “landlocked” public lands, think of the recent and ongoing corner-crossing controversy in the West, and urges a return to the use of lead ammunition where appropriate. 

If that’s a big sentence just think of the opportunities this executive order opens up across the country, especially in the western states. This could be, fingers crossed, huge! 

Non-profit organizations like Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Mule Deer Foundation, Ducks Unlimited and even Backcountry Hunters and Anglers are applauding the order, which was spawned largely from the current decline in hunter numbers, due in large part to a dearth of hunting opportunity. 

While there is much more to this and other EOs coming from the White House, the point American sportsmen can take away is that new hunting opportunities are on the horizon and that’s a good thing.
