Winters Meat

Mike-with-packhorseFB

Above the house 1966 at the age of 17 slinging a cow elk on saddle horses, which my younger brother harvested. Teenager hunting adventures while growing up in Jackson Hole Wyoming the house is within horseback ride of the head of Cache, and Nowlin creeks. While in high school my brother’s and I responsibility was to harvest two cow elk for meat to feed the family of seven thru the year. Each weekend during the elk and mule deer hunting season found me in the saddle at Nowlin peak spiking out in the Gros Ventre Wilderness.

I’m working on an updated version of “Elk Hunting the West” book. It will have new tactics and strategies information on hunting and harvesting todays bull elk out west.
