Backcountry hiker and hunter Dan Pickar shares his favorite method to wash a dirty down sleeping bag. Sleeping bags filled with down require extra care to make sure they last a lifetime. Using the right laundry detergent and washing machine can make all the difference. Protect your investment and get the most out of down filled sleeping bag.
Another important tip I think was missed here is that you should check the washer and the dryer for objects that could cut the nylon fabric of the sleeping bag before placing the bag inside each. Doing this is especially important in a commercial laundromat. The last thing you want to discover when removing your bag is that there was a bent paper clip or a razor blade in the washer or dryer!
