Former CPW Director Jeff Davis resigned his role in Colorado and is now second in command in the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Davis resigned his post in Colorado amidst the firestorm that is Colorado’s wolf reintroduction program. But does that mean Wyoming should have hired him to man the deputy director position of WYGFD?
Davis had a no win task with Colorado’s wolf debacle for sure and certain. There was and is no way to make all parties happy when it comes to apex predators in today’s world. If you do what scientific wildlife management stipulates then the anti-hunting loonies sue your pants off. If you cater to the extremists on the left then the hardworking ranchers, farmers and sportsmen get shafted by having wolves, bears and lions shoved down their throats. Not an easy job and one made virtually impossible when your Governor swings a tyrannical axe.
As for Davis and his work credentials, well those remain vague to Wyomingites. Is he willing to put the people of Wyoming and Wyoming’s wildlife first or is he walking into Cheyenne with a nefarious agenda? Wyoming folks will have to wait and see but the distrust of someone from the Colorado government will be difficult to surmount.
Personally I like to judge a person on their merit. I don’t know much about Mr. Davis and am curious as to how he will handle the adjustment to Wyoming’s more conservative climate and unique wildlife management challenges. I guess I’ll have to wait and see. I hope he does what is best for Wyoming’s people and wildlife.
The commentary on this move by WYGFD runs the gamut from “the sky is falling” to “this could be a good thing.”
What I’m curious about is your opinion. Was this a good acquisition for Wyoming or have we just let a fox into the hen house?

Washington state commissioners have ruined our state. The democrap/liberal/socialist governor picks his best people with the wealthiest donors for ending conservation in the state. Can’t kill predators now, then doubled the entire license and tag structure, all the while cutting tag allotment with shorter seasons.
Governor gets the sponsor money for his political career and breaking laws, commissioners get their cut to use their feelings in lieu of science to make their decisions to end all hunting.
I can only pray these idiots that refuse to use science doesn’t have a medical emergency and the dei doctor decides to use it’s feelings to remove their brain in lieu of fixing the plugged arteries in their greedy hearts
I don’t like the idea of anyone from Colofornia parks & wildlife in a decision-making position in Wyoming.
