Man Kills Mountain Lion With Shovel

In a preview of what’s to come if the people of Colorado don’t defeat Proposition 127 this November, a Colorado man killed a cougar with a shovel as it attempted to kill and eat his husky while they were camping in a campground. Yup, you read that correctly, he killed a mountain lion with a shovel! Dang dude, save some testosterone for the rest of us.

According to reports the lion, a 95 lb female, approached and attacked the dog in the man’s campsite during daylight hours, forcing the man’s hand and he dispatched the big cat with the only tool at his disposal, a shovel. A wildlife officer responded to the scene the next morning and found the dead lion draped over the hood of the man’s Jeep. Since the cat did not touch the man the incident will not be recorded as a mountain lion attack, of which there have been 25 since 1990.

The incident hit social media last week and exploded as you can imagine. It’s not everyday someone kills a cougar with a blunt instrument.

Sadly, this is what will become commonplace if Proposition 127 is voted into law in the ballot box biology epicenter of Colorado. Prop 127 effectively bans the hunting of mountain lions, bobcats and ironically, the already protected lynx. If Prop 127 goes into effect the already abundant mountain lion population of Colorado will explode, just ask California how it’s worked out for them. Dogs, livestock and humans, especially children, will be openly targeted by cats grown brazen from a lack of healthy fear of humans.

Colorado, like many other states with singular urban areas such as the front range, where the bulk of the state’s people reside, have become rule by mob states where fear and lack of understanding fuel anti-hunting agendas and lead to the slow elimination of hunting and scientific wildlife management. I hope that logic and reason win the day in Colorado this November because if they don’t we can expect to see more of this type of wildlife interaction with apex predators.

What’s your take? Can Prop 127 be defeated?

  1. Logic and reason seems to be in short supply with liberals that are motivated by their emotions.
