Grizzly Took My Bull! Elk Rut Bow Hunt on Public Land | Eastmans’ Beyond the Grid

Bow hunt public land elk in grizzly bear country as the September rut kicks into gear. Eastmans’ staffer Jordan Breshears turns up plenty of bulls, but switches gears when conditions change in the timber country. He turns his attention to a sagebrush travel corridor where he finds more than elk. Grizzly bears seem to be just as active in the area as the rutting bulls. He’s able to call in and connect with a public land giant. When he returns to pack out the meat, he’s shocked to find the bull isn’t where he’d left it. DIY persistence pays off on this bow hunt in grizzly bear country on this episode of Beyond the Grid by Eastmans’.

  1. This may have been on public land but it was not public land accessible by a normal person. This was either a very limited entry special draw license or access was gained through private land to get there. How did they get the bull out whole like that deep in griz country?

      Hey Wes!
Really appreciate your comment and wanted to clear up a few things for you.

Yes—this was a public land hunt, fully accessible to everyone. They did not use private land to access a landlocked piece of public, in case that was your concern.

Also, this was a limited-entry special draw tag. And to clarify—they quartered the bull to pack it out, it wasn’t taken out whole.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
