
The Arizona Game and Fish Department is once again offering special permits via a process called the Copper State Draw. The department conducts these special draws a few times per year by offering a handful of permits valid for multiple units at non-traditional seasons. The draw is only open until 5 PM MST on August 5.
The current offering includes the following permits:
- Elk (any elk): Dec. 15, 2025-Feb. 15, 2026. Open areas: Units 1, 27.
- Elk (any elk): Dec. 15, 2025-Feb. 15, 2026. Open areas: Units 9, 10.
- Mule deer (antlered): Dec. 1, 2025-Jan. 31, 2026. Open areas: Units 28, 31, 32, 37A, 37B.
- Mule deer (antlered): Dec. 1, 2025-Jan. 31, 2026. Open areas: Units 22, 23.
- Mule deer (antlered): Dec. 15, 2025-Feb. 15, 2026. Open areas: Units 10, 17A, 17B, 19A, 19B, 20A.
- White-tailed deer (antlered): Jan. 1-Feb. 28, 2026. Open areas: Units 4A, 5A, 6A, 6B, 8, 27, 28.
- White-tailed deer (antlered): Jan. 1-Feb. 28, 2026. Open areas: Units 29, 30A, 30B, 31, 32, 33, 34A, 34B, 35A, 35B, 36A, 36B, 36C.
- White-tailed deer (antlered): Jan. 1-Feb. 28, 2026. Open areas: Units 21, 22, 23, 24A, 24B.
- Gould’s turkey (bearded): April 1-May 31, 2026. Open areas: Units 29, 30A, 31, 32, 33 (north and west of Redington Road), 34A, 35A, 35B.
The odds are sure to be slim, tens of thousands of applications will be submitted for the 9 available tags. But for the lucky winners, they are sure to enjoy the hunt of a lifetime.
