Arizona Deer & Sheep Need To Knows
By Andrew Gillett
Arizona recently released its 2024 deer regulations and opened its draw portal. Here are the quick details you need to know:
When: The deadline to apply is June 4 at 11:59 PM MST
Where: https://draw.azgfd.com/
What: Deer, Bighorn Sheep, Fall Bison, Fall Turkey, Sandhill Crane
What you will need: AZ Hunting License Valid on June 4, Department ID #, Credit card valid through the draw period (Usually 4 weeks after draw deadline)
This year’s regulations follow last year’s trend of reducing overall deer tag numbers. When reviewing draw odds be sure to account for the change in available permits. There are several hunts with increased permit numbers, those are good places to look for a small bump in the odds to draw.
For nonresidents with high amounts of bonus points it is important to make sure the hunt you apply for has more than 20 total tags available, this ensures that a NR tag is available in the bonus pass.
The overall outlook for deer and sheep is positive, we’ve had good winter moisture two years in a row and with tags being reduced there may be reason to hope for a better age class.
