Why Savage For Eastmans’?

Ike:bull final

The AccuTrigger – What is it and why is it important?

As we all know the most inconsistent thing about a rifle’s accuracy isn’t even the rifle, it’s the human holding it, aiming it and most important of all, pulling/squeezing the trigger. The trigger pull on custom triggers or rifles helps limit the human factor by minimizing the amount of time the shooter has to pull the shot. The trade off is safety versus the shot surprise (where the rifle goes off and there is not a flinch, almost surprising the shooter). The AccuTrigger is built to be safe and give you a very light, custom-like trigger pull. The video explains and illustrates this WAY better then I can in words. Check it out and let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Love Savage accu-triggers, and their barrels.
I have owned a large variety of rifles, and most Savages I have reloaded & tested loads in were exceptionally accurate for factory rifles.

  2. Savage 111 long range hunter chambered in 7MM, love the gun and the accu-trigger adjusted it twice and pulls smooth as silk.

  3. I have a 116 in .30-06 with both the AccuTrigger and AccuStock. When the conditions are right, with premium ammo (and if I do my part) it can print 7/8″ groups at 200 yards. That’s not an every day thing but I don’t know what more can be asked of a factory rifle.

  4. Took a cow elk with the Savage 111 in 7mm at 436 yards, no rest! Not an ideal shot for such a distance, but it hit the mark and she dropped. I really like this gun for the price and out of the box accuracy. The Accu Trigger is really nice.

  5. Savage 111 LR Hunter in 7MM hitting a 10″x10″ steel plate at 1000 yards, the rifle speaks for it’s self. Love my Savage

  6. I have two savage rifles one 7mm Long range hunter 168gr Nosler accoubond lr and a 300wm Bear 180gr ct ballistic silver tip both have Huskemaw Optics. With a solid rest I can hit postage stamps at 200yds. Never had to do anything to the rifles, just worked up loads. They are nothing like the two Rems I traded in.

  7. I also have a Savage 116 Weather Warrior in 7mm Rem Mag and am preparing for my first elk huntin 2016. What is a good scope mount to fit the 116 and what type of scope is Mr Eastman using in that photo? Looks really nice. I am narrowing my selection to Nightforce SHV and Vortex HS LR. Any thoughts or scopes you like better?

I use the Swarovski Z6 on my custom Ruger #1. Very user friendly! I also have a Nightforce on a custom 338 Lapua. Seems like the Nightforce requires a lot of adjustments before the shot. I’m not liking it much!! Maybe I don’t know enough about it???

  8. I have a Stevens Model 200 in .308 Win. I ‘ve owned it since 2006, I installed a Basics trigger. It shoots tight groups and why would’nt it since it’s a Savage through and through. I’ve never not harvested a deer that I shot with it, and I’ve taken a lot of farm bucks with it. Would’nt trade up for nothing.

  9. Grandson and nephew both have weather warrior in 308….no complaint…These guns should serve them well for their hunts…Mike Balisle….Leupold vx1 2 by7

  10. PLEASE tell me why Eastmans are shooting elk with 6.5s/270s and soft bullets? That’s fine if he’s tied to tree at 150 yds broadside. They know better cause back n the day…they were using mag calibers suited for long range hunting and big game. Go back to the older shows with one shot kills, now they are constantly shooting game multiple times. I speak from 30 years of experience so for those who don’t know about long range shooting and high county hunting, no need to reply. Blows my mind because the Eastmans know better but guess the sponsor money has brain washed them all.

The family of .284s in a magnum case is minimim for elk. If you think I’m full of it…go try to anchor a 700+lb animal at 400yds with a soft 120gr bullet. Grab your flashlights, blood hounds and search party.

Do yourself and the animal a favor!!!
